Companies sometimes have to split their workforce into departments, throughout different parts of the country, or the world. Team building days can bridge the gap between those who might speak on the phone from time to time, but never actually meet. WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL TEAM BUILDING DAY? Expensive outdoor pursuits won't necessarily suit every client, or budget. DO A STAFF SURVEY One suggestion for choosing event content, is to simply ask everyone what sort of activity they would prefer. Would they like a team building activity which focuses on a work issue, or work skills?, or would the teams prefer to have something which takes them out of their working environment, and skill set altogether?

Think about what you are trying to achieve from the team building day, and choose event content which suits everybody attending.
Teams with more than 3-4 players will generally require a team leader, so think about letting the team select their own, or appoint one yourself from the start.
Some people are not always comfortable with being in the same team as the boss, however, we feel a team building day should start with everyone taking part, on an even footing.
